A well-built campaign revolves around an axis.

what goes around comes around

the sweet spot

Like a great big Ferris Wheel, a well-built campaign revolves around an axis but it needs so much more to work. We support our clients by combining a range of services under one roof. Put it this way, no two pick ‘n’ mix bags will ever be the same, and we treat each campaign with a little bit of this and that in different measure so we’re hitting the sweet spot every time.

This is just a taster of some of the great projects we’ve been involved with…

Fairground orchestrated a multi-faceted campaign fronted by Irvine Welsh to raise awareness of prostate cancer, collaborating with Bawbags to produce limited-edition fundraising boxers and driving a campaign with the Daily Record celebrating everyday McNificent Men.

KTWO (now Busy B) started back in 1997, when founder Kerri Binnie was travelling around Australia in an old VW camper van. As a trained product designer, she was always searching for tricky problems to solve. Remembering all the festive clutter that inevitably comes along at Christmas, she improvised with some cereal packets to create early prototypes of a rather nifty Christmas card holder. The following year, New York's MoMA ordered 10,000 of them – and suddenly she was in business! Every product designed since then is still shaped by Busy B’s enduring purpose – to help busy people get beautifully organised.

Drinkly is an online drinks delivery service that promises ‘chilled beers, spirits and wines to your door in one hour’. Launched in Edinburgh in November 2016, Drinkly is the brainchild of Glasgow-born entrepreneur, qualified beer cicerone and drinks industry veteran John Robertson, who wanted to create a business whose value proposition was to offer added convenience. He took inspiration from the success of an online liquor store in the States to plug a gap in the UK market for takeaway drinks on demand – if it was possible to order all manner of food at the touch of the button, then it was possible to order a finely crafted cold beer!

Pig in a Poke serves up slow-roasted whole pork, cooked for a minimum of 18 hours.  This is no-nonsense, honest slow – and soul – food that comes at a flat rate of £3.80 for pork and all its trimmings (stuffing and crackling), served in either an artisan roll or wrap and topped with a choice of homemade apple sauce and braised red cabbage or smokey BBQ sauce and homemade coleslaw.  Add £4.80 for an extra helping of pork or go for a homemade soup and roll combo for £5.80.

Scotland’s national dish is a source of endless jokes and stories and yet provokes huge curiosity. Unloved by some and passionately consumed by others, haggis has a bit of a bad-boy image to contend with. How did haggis come by this contradictory reputation?

Jo Macsween of the famous family of Edinburgh haggis makers expertly guides you through the myths and mystery to a new realm of haggis appreciation that transcends neeps, tatties and Burns Night. Featuring fifty mouth-watering recipes, Jo rewrites the rules and demonstrates that haggis is a versatile ingredient that can be savoured at all times of day and throughout the year.

Published by Birlinn, The Macsween Haggis Bible is available from good bookstores and online. For further information, visit www.birlinn.co.uk

At 10.11am on 6th March 2018, new-make spirit started to flow from the copper pot stills at The Borders Distillery in Hawick, a pivotal moment not only for the four founders of the Three Stills Company (TTSC), owners of The Borders Distillery® but also for distilling in the Scottish Borders.

On 1st May 2018, The Borders Distillery® officially opened its doors to the public, marking the revival of an industry that had ceased to exist in the region for nearly 200 years - the last-known distillery closed in Kelso in 1837.

In March 2013, Tim Carton, John Fordyce, Tony Roberts and George Tait, founded TTSC aiming to capitalise on the growth of Scotch Whisky sales, particularly in Malt Whisky, and the explosion in demand for gin made in Scotland.   Having all worked at one time or the other at international distillers William Grant & Sons and having spent much of their professional lives in the drinks sector, they knew there was an opportunity to be had in building a new distillery and the opportunity lay in the Scottish Borders.

Scotland's freshest arts festival draws 20,000 visitors to ten days of multi-arts events staged in North Berwick's scenic harbourside. With new owners at the helm with big ambitions, the festival doubled in size and required a solid PR and marketing plan to help engage and attract additional visitors. Targeted communications and creative story ideas plus engaging social media content helped spread the word, building profile and achieving record audiences in 2018 and 2019.

To position Innis & Gunn as one of the pioneers of the specialty beer movement in the UK; innovators of oak-aged beers and entrepreneurial, dynamic business rooted in Scotland with an international outlook Fairground developed a centralised PR plan for
global activation (UK, USA and Canada), supporting market-specific sales & marketing programmes; press office and management of international agency resource. Key strands included NPD announcements, company news, issue management, awards and media and influencer engagement. Also handled launch campaign for The Brewers’ Association of Scotland on behalf of all founder breweries.

Held at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh every spring, Inverarity Morton's annual wine portfolio launch is the largest trade tasting in Scotland. Explore. Taste. Love.

Fairground launched the multi-million pound leisure hub at the new Whitekirk Hill development, implementing an integrated campaign of targeted above and below-the-line activity that would reach core consumers locally and regionally, driving awareness of and footfall to the development.

Robotical’s Marty the Robot is unlike any other STEM robot used in education. A fully programmable and customisable humanoid walking robot that can be used by learners of all ages and skill levels, supported by teaching resources that follow national and regional curricula alongside learning activities that allow for integration with other areas within the curriculum, Marty is an exceptional ‘out-of-the-box’ STEM learning solution…and award winner!

Fairground launched Regional Schools of Racing (RSR), a Scottish Cycling initiative that was established to equip talented young cyclists in Scotland with the technical and psychological skills they needed to take cycling to a competitive level. The scheme aimed to plug a gap in the performance pathway between entry-level activity at school or cycle clubs and being selected for the National Schools of Racing.

In June 2010, independent Scottish venture capital firm, Panoramic Growth Equity (PGE), made an initial close on its Panoramic Enterprise Capital Fund 1 (Panoramic ECF 1) at £34m.  The only SME growth fund to close in the UK in the last year, it exceeded initial fundraising targets by £1.5m.

Panoramic ECF 1 secured significant funding from the private sector, attracting investment from financial institutions and high net-worth individuals.  The UK Government pledged £21.7m, its largest fund commitment since the ECF scheme began in 2006.

Panoramic’s Fund has been committed to assisting fast-growing later-stage small companies in Britain, with individual investments ranging between £0.5 million and £2.0 million.  The Fund aimed to help meet the increasing demand by SMEs for growth capital, at a time when supply in the equity gap had come under considerable pressure.

A proud Dundonian and brewing hobbyist, Duncan Alexander spent five years running a community brewery in Portobello, Edinburgh. But he wanted his past-time to become his full-time and so quit his comfy day job to follow his dream of building the first brewery in Dundee for nearly 50 years. The Dundee brewery opened in January 2017 with the launch of 71 Brewing's flagship brew: 71 Lager.
